You’d be lying to yourself if you didn’t admit you totally wanted to live in Disney’s Halloweentown as a kid. Well, dreams do come true! Halloweentown is real — at least for October.
Halloweentown is actually the city of St. Helens, Oregon. The movie was filmed here in 1998, as well as some scenes in Twilight — but it’s not the glittery (and frankly, way more popular) vampires the town embraced. It’s the beloved children’s film!
Every October St. Helens goes all out to transform into Halloweentown. The kickoff weekend always has some fun kid-friendly activities. This year there’s a Severed Head Tractor Ride, a Mad Hatter’s Costume Party and the famous Pumpkin Lighting Ceremony.
Kimberly J. Brown, who played Marnie in the first three films, is a major, major Halloweentown enthusiast and has been known to hang out in the village during the month of October. This year, true to Halloweentown form, she’s going to be there celebrating opening weekend. It wouldn’t be authentic without Marnie, right?
The town is super serious about the event and even swaps out their signage.
Everything is so authentically Halloweentown.
Including the town folks’ methods of transportation.
But nothing is more magical than the Pumpkin Lighting Ceremony.
It’s everything our Halloween dreams are made of.
So get on your broomsticks and hop on over to Oregon. Halloweentown only comes around once a year, and it’s certainly a magical, magical month.
