Breakout filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, writer-director of this summer’s blockbuster District 9, has signed up for his next sci-fi project.
There are no plot details for the as-yet-untitled movie, but Blomkamp had this to say to Variety: “[Production company Media Rights Capital] is letting me make the film I want to make, and that is by far the most important thing here. The film will hopefully be commercial, but it is very much a singular film, (one) that comes directly from me.”
Blomkamp is hot property these days after District 9, based on a graphic novel he created and aided by the involvement of Peter Jackson, grossed over $180 million worldwide and cost less than $30 million to make — all while receiving stellar reviews.
