During World War II, an American pilot who was flying for the RAF is injured. As he is recovering in Jersulalem, he meets a quiet Spanish girl who is Jewish. He falls in love with her, and although she feels the same, the girl fears that the fact that he is a gentile and the son of a protestant minister will prevent her family from approving of their relationship. So their forbidden love affair is marked meetings that are always followed by partings.
