Evil Dead ad criticised for scaring TV viewers

An advertising watchdog in the U.K. has upheld a slew of complaints about horror reboot Evil Dead after TV viewers claimed the film’s trailers were too scary for the small screen. The 2013 remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 original hit cinemas in Britain in April (13) and the release was promoted with a number of gory TV adverts, which attracted 28 complaints.
Chiefs of Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have now ruled the commercials were inappropriately scheduled as they were aired at a time when young children were likely to have been watching.
ASA bosses upheld 25 of the 28 complaints, according to Campaignlive.co.uk.
