Exclusive: Amy Adams on ‘The Muppets’ and Her ‘Fighter’ Musical Ambitions

Amy Adams was last seen playing a bellicose, potty-mouthed waitress in David O. Russell’s gritty drama The Fighter, a role for which she earned a deserved third Oscar nomination. This week she switches gears entirely, playing an angelic small-town schoolteacher in Disney’s PG-rated musical comedy The Muppets, and I submit that no other actress in Hollywood today could make the transition so effortlessly. In an exclusive interview, Adams spoke with us about how Muppets star/producer/co-writer Jason Segel convinced her to take the job, and why The Fighter so conspicuously lacked in song-and-dance numbers:

The Muppets is now playing in theaters everywhere. See it today and rejoice.
