Extinction mysteriously pulled from Universal Pictures release schedule

The upcoming sci-fi thriller Extinction has been removed from the release schedule for Universal Pictures without explanation.
The film, starring Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan, was slated to open on 26 January (18) and follows “a man who must save his family from an otherworldly phenomenon.”
Directed by Ben Young, the project has not been promoted and no preview clips or images have been shared.
This isn’t the first project that has mysterious vanished from the studio’s schedule. Last month (Oct17), Bride of Frankenstein was removed from the film company’s list of upcoming projects. The remake of the 1935 classic was set to premiere in February, 2019 but has been postponed indefinitely.
