Family Ties adapted for the stage

Beloved 80s sitcom Family Ties is set to be adapted into a stage play.
Playwright and director Daniel Goldstein is turning the American TV series into a play produced in part by the Araca Group, which was one of the backers of blockbuster musical Wicked.
According to Variety, the production will draw on elements from the entire seven-season run of the programme, which centred on the all-American Keaton family. The show often featured political disagreements between liberal parents played by Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter, and their conservative son, portrayed by Michael J. Fox.
The show launched Fox’s career and even earned him three consecutive Emmy Awards for his role as Alex P. Keaton.
The Family Ties play is slated to debut next June (17) at the Human Race Theater in Dayton, Ohio, the same state where the TV show was set.
