Festival boss defends Rihanna over miming

The organiser of Scotland’s T In The Park festival has defended Rihanna after outraged fans complained about the singer’s lip-syncing during the show. The Umbrella hitmaker headlined the event on Saturday night (13Jul13), but she sparked an outcry among audience members by miming parts of her energetic set.
However, T In The Park boss Geoff Ellis has now spoken out in Rihanna’s defence, telling Britain’s Daily Record newspaper, “I wouldn’t be able to sing like that if I was bouncing up and down and dancing.
“I was side of stage and she looked really pleased with the way things went. When she told the crowd how wonderful they were, she really meant it.”
The publication also reports Rihanna’s team cleared a number of other artists out of the backstage area so the singer could prepare for her set in solitude.
The View’s manager Brendan Moon is quoted as saying, “Her people came into the artists’ village and… they wanted the place cleared. All the other artists had to get out of there, including Liam Gallagher who was headlining around the same time. It was ridiculous. It was overkill.”
