‘Footloose’ in Jeopardy over Crawford’s ‘Gossip Girl’

The planned remake of Footloose has reportedly been thrown into crisis over Chace Crawford‘s commitments to teen drama Gossip Girl.

The young actor is believed to be in final negotiations to sign on for the project to replace Zac Efron in the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 original.

But Crawford is struggling to find time to film the movie because he is already contracted to shoot another season of Gossip Girl in New York, according to E! Online.

A source tells the Web site, “There’s a big overlap of when he’d have to shoot Footloose and the next season of Gossip Girl. Chace may be hiring a big-league attorney to come in and figure out how to make it work.”

The remake is currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2010.
