Forgotten Joe Strummer film song unearthed for new box set

An unreleased song The Clash star Joe Strummer wrote for a 1993 film will appear on an upcoming box set tribute to the late punk icon.
The rocker wrote and recorded Rose of Erin for Sara Driver’s movie When Pigs Fly, and although the song appeared in the film, the soundtrack was never released.
Now, the tune – about a singer who shoots her lover and takes off on a world tour – will be among the highlights on Joe Strummer 001, which is scheduled for release on 28 September (18).
The box set chronicles Strummer’s impressive career with solo tracks, songs he recorded post-The Clash with bandmate Mick Jones and tunes from the punk pioneers, as well as those recorded by the rocker’s last band The Mescaleros.
