Fox Launches ‘Fantastic Four’ Challenge

This summer, to coincide with the June 15 release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Twentieth Century Fox and The Franklin Mint have teamed up to challenge moviegoers to “Search 4 $ilver.”

Together, they have created a collector’s edition “Silver Surfer” U.S. quarter that is adorned with the character himself, who features prominently in the highly anticipated sequel to 2005’s Fantastic Four.

Those who find the coins—which are legal tender 2005 California statehood commemorative quarters minted by the U.S. Mint and specially color-enhanced by The Franklin Mint for Twentieth Century Fox—will have a shot at winning a four-day, three-night trip for four to attend the June 12 world premiere in London.

The winner will be announced on or around June 4.

In addition, the first 400 people to receive a special coin and register at the film’s Web site (riseofthesilversurfer.com)—details and instructions are located on the coins—will be entered for a chance to win a private screening of the film for their friends and family the night before it surfs into theaters everywhere.

Finally, everyone is invited to visit the film’s Web site daily until June 12 to flip a “virtual coin” for a chance at instant prizes.

In Rise of the Silver Surfer, the silver villain himself finally descends upon Earth looking to wreak havoc. All that stands in his way are Reed (Ioan Gruffudd), Sue (Jessica Alba), Johnny (Chris Evans) and Ben (Michael Chiklis)—the Fantastic Four.
