Synopsis

A group of high-school girls are enduring everyday victimisation and humiliation. Their classmate Margaret, aka Legs, a radicalised intellectual steps up and under Legs's leadership, the girls vow allegiance, imprint themselves with tattoos and start a graffiti campaign promising righteous revenge. They take their revenge on the gang boys, on an abusive maths teacher, and on Maddy's repellent Uncle Walt. After some of them are convicted, a period of withdrawal begins. They embark on a communal life, until the decisive moment when Legs decides to have done with the crippling worries about lack of money and the fear of punishment. They are now confronted with adult issues: material problems and worries about what they will become. The change they are going through is also an emergence from childhood.
