Frank and Cindy | 2016
When Cindy married rock guitarist Frank in 1983 she imagined a life of glamor and Grammys. But "Whirly Girl," the song that propelled Frank's band OXO to fame was be the only chart-topper. After decades of marriage, Cindy's husband is severely out of shape, nearly bankrupt, and Cindy berates him constantly. Desperate to resuscitate her dream, she furnishes a new studio for Frank in hoping he'll record another hit, but he'd rather drink. Twenty-three years after appearing on American Bandstand, Frank lives sequestered in the basement. When their son G.J. returns home from film school, he is both appalled and amused by his parents' behavior, and when he learns that they've spent his tuition money, he picks up his video camera and aims it at them. Based on a true story and inspired by the documentary of the same name.
