Free Throw | 2011
Eight students from Compton High School in Los Angeles compete in a high-stakes free-throw basketball match devised by filmmaker Court Crandall. The prize is a $40,000 college scholarship. The young men and women in the competition hail from different racial and cultural backgrounds. Here, we get an intimate look at their hopes and dreams as well as gain a greater understanding of the South Central community that produced them, in both its positive and negative aspects.
