Gascoigne banned from driving, facing jail for alcohol arrest

The troubled sportsman was caught driving erratically through his native Newcastle, north-east England, and pulled over by cops, who discovered he was four times over the legal alcohol limit.

Gascoigne admitted to the charge when he appeared in Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (20Oct10), during which District Judge Stephen Earl told the 43 year old a 12-week jail term was possible.

Judge Earl said all options “up to and including a custodial sentence” were open.
