Neil Jordan must like pretty people to play vampires. The Interview with a Vampire director (which had the always handsome Brad Pitt and the then-handsome Tom Cruise) has cast Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as the maybe-vampires in Byzantium. I say maybe-vampires because that’s the point of the entire movie. Based on the play (A Vampire Story by Moira Buffini), Arterton and Ronan will play two vampire siblings, well, at least that’s what they claim. Since it is a play, you’re more than willing to find out the synopsis, though of course there is no telling how close they will stick to the source material. My only wish is that jean shorts will play a part.
