When the stars of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ took their roles they knew they had a lot riding on their shoulders.
The story is already a much beloved animated classic. The songs are timeless, and people already know the story. So when remaking it, you have to run the fine line of being something rememberable, but something brand new as well. The first way that Disney has chosen to remake it was go live-action instead of animated. The director, writer, and stars have also made changes in their characters to reflect a different era.
