Go Behind The Scenes of Helen Mirren’s ‘Winchester’

Helen Mirren will go down as one of the greatest actors of all time, and coming this Friday, she takes on a genre she’s never even been in before…

‘Winchester’ is the story of Sarah Winchester (Mirren) the heir to the Winchester Rifle fortune. After her husband passed a medium told her she would be haunted by all the people killed by the rifle. She moved to California and started building her mansion. This mansion, which exists as a tourist attraction today, is wild. Stairs that don’t lead to anywhere, doors that don’t open, all sorts of strange quirks to try to keep the ghosts at bay. In the film, Eric Price (Clarke) goes to visit the widow to find out her mental state and if she is actually wasting her fortune, and he finds something he didn’t expect.

In the above interview go behind the scenes and find out what it was like to recreate the past Winchester house. Helen Mirren talks about the mythology and the person that is Sarah Winchester, Jason Clarke talks about the importance to recreate the Winchester house correctly, Directors Michael and Peter Spierig talk about why they think Helen said yes to this roll in particular, and Helen returns to talk about how well the production team did.

‘Winchester’ releases February 2, 2018.
