When the first trailer for ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ my (as well as others) first thought was wow, what the hell was that?
The teaser looked pretty, sure, but what the hell was going on? The film is actually based on Valérian and Laureline, a French comic that Director Luc Besson first read in a magazine called Pilote back in 1973 when Luc was only 10 years old. Little did he know those pages would change his life, and Valérian and Laureline would be his Passion Project.
In the above interview go behind the scenes where Luc Besson goes further into the first time ever hearing of Valérian and Laureline and why this comic in particular struck a chord with the famous director, Dane DeHaan says why he said yes to this project as well as the difficulty with blue screen, Cara Delevingne talks about why Laureline is such a strong character, and check out when Dane first met the comic’s co-creator, Pierre Christin.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets releases July 21, 2017.
