Goldfinger actress Tania Mallet dies aged 77

Actress Tania Mallet, most famous for starring as Bond girl Tilly Masterson in 1964 movie Goldfinger, has died aged 77.
The sad news was confirmed by the official James Bond Twitter page, which wrote: “We are very sorry to hear that Tania Mallet who played Tilly Masterson in GOLDFINGER has passed away.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.”
Tania, the first cousin of actress Helen Mirren, starred opposite Sean Connery as 007 in the much-loved Bond movie, which was her only noteworthy acting credit. Prior to landing a role in the film, she was most famous as a model, after starting work in the industry aged just 16 and going on to become one of the most famous models of the 1950s and 1960s.
And following the release of Goldfinger, Tania made the decision to return to modelling – noting that she preferred the experience of photoshoots over filming.
“Filming had been an interesting experience but I was always more comfortable in a small studio with just the photographer and his assistant,” she said in a previous interview. “Besides which, the restrictions placed on me for the duration of the filming grated, were dreadful and I could not anticipate living my life like that. For instance, being forbidden to ride in case I had an accident, not being allowed to go abroad…”
