Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce and More Join ‘Glee’ Creator’s Next Project

6891096.jpgWhen he isn’t busy creating and running some of television’s biggest series, including Glee and Nip/Tuck, Ryan Murphy occasionally dabbles in film directing. Murphy’s feature-film debut, the new-age Julia Roberts travelogue Eat Pray Love, may have earned heaps of scorn from critics, but that didn’t quell his interest in the craft. He’s currently in the midst of his sophomore effort, A Normal Heart, starring Roberts and Alec Baldwin. And his next project, the musical comedy One Hit Wonders, is drawing some pretty big names, not to mention a rather large paycheck from a major studio.

Deadline.com reports that Murphy is nearing a “seven-figure preemptive deal” with Sony to produce, direct, and co-write (along with Glee chums Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan) One Hit Wonders, which will star Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, and Reese Witherspoon as “three singers who each scored a top hit song in the 1990s before watching their careers go down the drain.” Sounds a bit like Wilson-Phillips, no?

According to Deadline, SNL’s Andy Samberg and his Lonely Island cohorts have been enlisted to pen songs for the film. Beyonce‘s apparently attached to the project as well, though it’s unclear at this point what her role will be. Perhaps she’ll by supplying the jelly.
