In 1982, Blade Runner blew people’s minds with the world of the future.
Director Ridley Scott has been in an uphill battle for years trying to get a sequel made. Development first began all the way back in 1999. They couldn’t get the rights for it then, and then in 2009 they tried developing a series of shorts, but when it was discovered that the series would be too close to the characters, rights caused the production to stop again. In October 2012, Scott was quoted it was happening, he doesn’t know with who, but it’s happening. Now, Scott has backed down to a producer role and director Denis Villeneuve has taken over and now, finally, here we are.
In the original, Ex-cop Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) came out of retirement so he could hunt down androids that were being made for slavery. Now Ford is returning to the franchise with ‘Blade Runner 20149’. Not much is known about the plot, however, from the trailer we find out that Ryan Gosling‘s character is following in Rick’s footsteps hunting down androids. Also attached to the project are stars Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and Jared Leto.
‘Blade Runner 2049’ is set to release on October 6, 2017.
