High school building named after Billy Joel’s mum

The mother of rock legend Billy Joel has had a New York school facility renamed in her honour.
Education authorities in Syosset decided to dedicate the performing arts centre at the Long Island High School for the Arts to Rosalind Joel after the Piano Man hitmaker helped to save the place from closure last year (16).
On Tuesday (19Dec17), Billy paid a special visit to the campus to officially unveil the Rosalind Joel Conservatory for Music and Theatre, where he was also treated to a performance from the grateful students, reports Newsday.
The singer’s mum died in 2014.
