It’s taken a long time for Dax Shepard to get his proverbial “shot,” and it has arrived in the form of Hit and Run, the action comedy he wrote, co-directed, and stars in.
And if the just-released red band trailer is any indication, Shepard could potentially be looking at an ascension similar to that of his costar in the movie, (a dreadlocked) Bradley Cooper, following his own breakout comedies, Wedding Crashers and The Hangover.
The comparison is apt: August 24’s Hit and Run — about a former criminal (Shepard) who leaves the Witness Protection Program to help his fiancee (real-life soon-to-be wife Kristen Bell) land her dream job — shares producers with Wedding Crashers and very R-rated laughs with The Hangover. A delightfully foulmouthed Kristin Chenoweth also stars. Check out the red band trailer below, but remember: “red band” means R-rated and in this case, very much NSFW.
