War is a hell of a thing.
If you haven’t served, you can’t possibly understand what it’s like on the mind of a young man. After Billy Lynn (Alwyn) suffered thing a traumatic experience at war that was recorded and went viral, the squad was sent on a victory tour, parading him around to show people he was a hero. On the Thanksgiving day Cowboy game, Billy reflected on his time in Iraq, and that brings us to ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’.
Civilians think they understand a soldier, but they can’t. In the above interview, the cast describes what this halftime show was like for Billy. Joe Alwyn tells us how we got to this moment, Vin Diesel explains how this movie is shot from the perspective of Billy, Kristen Stewart praises Ang Lee’s truthful raw style, Chris Tucker talks about how his character relates to the soldiers, Steve Martin says how his character is different from the book version, and Director Ang Lee wants the viewer to understand they don’t know what a Veteran goes through at home.
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk releases tomorrow, November 11, 2016.
