Little Women was originally published in 1868 but it’s still an important piece of literature that is still assigned reading even today.
While the book is definitely dated, the core concepts are still relevant today, maybe even more so. The ideas of female importance, poverty, family and marriage, and even growth and reflection are ideas that still relate. The main problem with Little Women is that it was made in 1868. Greta Gerwig and staff were well aware of this, and instead of making a modern-day retelling of the story, they took the original source material and updated it to today’s language.
