Hugh Jackman in for  ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ — Ready for More Wolverine?

X-Men: Hugh Jackman

His perfect record will go unbroken: Hugh Jackman has been confirmed to be joining the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past, bringing his beloved character Wolverine to the new time-jumping storyline. This continues the hyper-talented performer’s streak as the only actor to appear in every big screen incarnation of X-Men franchise.

Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer, also the helmer of the first two X-Men movies and producer on 2011’s X-Men: First Class, announced Jackman’s involvement via Twitter, stating, “I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…”

— Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) December 19, 2012Singer’s message, solidifying the tentative news of Jackman’s casting announced in November, breathes new excitement into an already optimistic new chapter for the Marvel mutants. And that “More to come” at the end… well, that just makes our imaginations run wild.

Jackman joins forces with beloved returning players Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen (older Prof. X and Magneto), James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (younger Prof. X and Magneto… we told you there was time-jumping!), and Jennifer Lawrence. The film is slated for a mid-2014 release, but we won’t be lacking for Wolverine in the meantime: Jackman will also bring his heroic Logan to the forefront in 2013’s prequel story The Wolverine.
