Twilight did it first and The Amazing Spider-Man recently followed suit—but when you know you’ve got a hit on your hands, why wait for the first film to land in theaters before announcing the sequel?
The next big franchise churning out films like there’s no tomorrow is The Hunger Games, whose home studio Lionsgate just announced over Twitter its plans for a part two. The first film (also titled The Hunger Games) lands in March of next year, but anticipation for the movie has helped solidify the follow up, Catching Fire, with a locked date: November 22, 2013.
So while you’re feasting on turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will be fighting the dystopian authority of the future in hopes of getting a few bread crumbs. Chew on that!
