Indigo Girls postpone tour after Emily Saliers undergoes emergency surgery

Folk rock duo Indigo Girls have postponed several U.S. tour dates after lead guitarist Emily Saliers was hospitalised with appendicitis.
The band, which also features Amy Ray, were due to perform in Ponte Vedra, Florida on Sunday (11Mar18), but announced they were pulling out of the gig after Emily, 54, was hospitalised in Atlanta, Georgia and required an emergency appendectomy operation.
A statement posted on the group’s Facebook page reads, “Emily flew home to Atlanta on a day off from touring yesterday and was not feeling well. Turns out she had appendicitis and checked into the hospital for an appendectomy. All went well and she is resting and on her way to a full recovery which her doctors says will take a solid week.”
As a result, Amy and Emily will look to reschedule Sunday’s gig, as well as concerts taking place this week in New Jersey, New York and Providence, Rhode Island.
The band will return to the stage at Boston’s Symphony Hall next Sunday.
