Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur lead the nominations for 2016 Annie Awards

Hit Pixar films Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur look set to dominate the 2016 Annie Awards after scoring a total of 23 nominations.
The two family releases will compete for the top honour of Best Animated Feature with Anomalisa, Shaun the Sheep the Movie, and The Peanuts Movie.
The award shortlist serves as a good indicator for the same category at the Oscars, where the winner of the Annie has gone on to repeat its success at the Academy Awards nine times in the Best Animated Feature Oscar’s 14-year history, while every previous winner has always earned a nod in the top Annie category first.
All of the Best Animated Feature Annie contenders, except for The Good Dinosaur, are in the running for the title of Directing in an Animated Feature Production, alongside When Marnie Was There, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet and Extraordinary Tales.
Inside Out’s Amy Poehler and Phyllis Smith are up for Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production, where they will face competition from Minions’ Jon Hamm and Pierre Coffin, The Peanuts Movie’s Alex Garfin and Hadley Belle, Anomalisa’s Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Tom Kenny from The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
The Best Animated Feature – Independent prize will be a fight between Boy and the World, When Marnie Was There, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet and The Boy and the Beast, and the Animated Effects in an Animated Production will be selected from Inside Out, Home, The Good Dinosaur, Minions, Hotel Transylvania 2, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
In the TV categories, Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas leads the way with seven nods, while Pig Goat Banana Cricket and Dragons: Race to the Edge landed five nominations apiece.
The winners of the 43rd Annual Annie Awards will be announced on 6 February (16) during a ceremony at Royce Hall on the University of California, Los Angeles campus.
