Every X-Men fan has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Wolverine 3. Wolverine is one of the franchise’s most enigmatic characters — he has a depth we’ve only seen hints of. He’s strong, he’s vicious, but something else is also there.

Marvel has only scratched  the surface when it comes to Wolverine, but Wolverine 3 has us hopeful that we’ll get so much more. If anything, the new poster and film’s brand new name show just how human they’re going to make the character.

Wolverine 3 is now known as Logan, which the character is commonly called despite being named James Howlett at birth. Hugh Jackman (who plays Wolverine) and the film’s director James Mangold revealed the brand new title with an emotional, stripped-down poster.

The poster features Wolverine’s hand — claws and all — held by the hand of a child. Does Wolverine have kids? Is he training a protegee? There’s something here and we need to know. Fans have also pointed out that this poster mimics that of Schindler’s List. Could the X-Men be dealing with a potential holocaust? There are so many questions!

So far, only one fan theory has proven to be true. Fans have speculated that Logan will focus on an older, down-on-his-luck Wolverine because Jackman looked a little rough in photos from set. A tidbit of the screenplay posted by Mangold on Twitter confirms the idea that Wolverine is now older and abuses alcohol to help with chronic pain. A snip of the text reads:

“As for our hero, well, he’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were. He’s fading on the inside and his diminished healing factor keeps in him in a constant state of chronic pain—hence booze as a painkiller.”

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017. We’re guessing the film will be gritty and emotional. We can’t wait to see what happens!
