Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt Alberto Falcone In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’?

DarkKnight.651x113.jpg

Joseph Gordon-LevittLast week, it was announced that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be joining The Dark Knight Rises after much speculation about whether or not he’d reunite with his Inception director Chris Nolan. To that, we said, yes! And of course following the announcement, everybody wondered what role JGL would play. Robin? Hugo Strange? The Riddler?

Well, apparently none of those, if we’re to believe the latest rumor from ComicBookMovie.com. The site claims that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone — a character who, yes, most of us non-comic book readers don’t know either. CBM has removed the post that seems to have started this rumor and that makes sense, considering their original “source” was “anonymous” – which is an equally valuable source as, say, this dream about Batman movies I had last night.

Alberto is the son of Carmine — who was played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins — and was featured heavily in the graphic novel The Long Halloween, which has been one of Nolan’s major story sources for his trilogy. So, you know, maybe this story is true, since it does fit into the world of the series. Unfortunately though, if the Falcone family does rise back up in TDKR, that means we probably won’t get to see Eric Roberts reprise his role as Sal Maroni. Oh well, at least there’s always Sharktopus.
