‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ Climbs to Box Office Heights with $28 Million

It was a fairytale story at the box office this weekend as the big budget flick Jack the Giant Slayer fee fye foe fummed into theaters and easily defeated its cinematic competition.

Bryan Singer’s darker take of the classic tale proved to be a box office leader with the male/fanboy type of audience, thus drawing in $28 million in it’s first weekend. Who needs magic beans when you can make millions?

Trailing behind in a not-so-close second is the raunchy R-rated comedy 21 and Over. The writers of The Hangover were hoping to nab the same kind of insta-classic status with their drunken college adventure-gone-wrong, but it looks like their audience passed out before they could make it to the theater. The film still nabbed a respectable $9 million. Imagine all the kegs you could buy with that!

The Last Exorcism Part II also spooked into theaters this weekend. The sequel to 2010’s The Last Exorcism, fell short of scaring it’s competition earning $8 million.
