Jason Statham: I’ll Never Be a Great Actor

ALTMost actors are always looking for opportunities to prove that they have range, but not Jason Statham. He knows he’s good at playing tough guys and action stars, as he does in his latest film Safe, and he isn’t looking to branch out.

“I don’t want to upset the apple cart. I don’t want to try something for the sake of doing something different,” he told the BBC. “Doing something different is for great character actors. I don’t see myself as a great character actor that will play a lawyer and then something bizarrely different. That’s not what my strength is.”

Sure, we’ve only seen Statham in films like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and The Expendables, but how does he know he isn’t a great character actor until he tries it? He should take a chance on a Downton Abbey cameo or a role in the next Nicholas Sparks film.
