John Goodman Gets ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ To Bullock & Hanks

John GoodmanJohn Goodman makes everything better — even if it’s just when he’s telling someone to shut the fuck up. That’s why any time the actor is added to a new film — especially one as highly anticipated as Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close — we’re a pretty happy bunch here at Hollywood.com.

Goodman joins Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks in the film, which was adapted by the ever-talented Eric Roth (Forest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) from Jonathan Safran Foer’s novel of the same name, and will be directed by Stephen Daldry (The Reader).

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close tells the story of a 10-year-old boy named Oskar (played by current unknown Thomas Horn) who loses his father (Hanks) in the September 11 attacks. The drama focuses on Oskar’s quest throughout New York City to find answers to questions raised by a lock-box left behind by his dad. While he searches he meets numerous other people along the way who are each dealing with loss and struggle in similar ways. Goodman will play a doorman at Oskar’s apartment building.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, rumors are that Roth’s script is one of the best in Hollywood right now and considering how terrifically heartbreaking the book is, the claim doesn’t seem to be that crazy. Now, combine an all-star cast with with Daldry — who’s been nominated for Best Director for each feature-length film he’s directed — and the anticipation for this movie is building from extremely large to incredibly crazy. (Sorry, that was bad. I know)
