Love him or hate him, Johnny Depp plays a great Jack Sparrow. Excuse me,
Excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow.
It’s hard to imagine that before this franchise, Pirates of the Carribean was just a random ride at Disney World. When producers first came to the Disney heads that be, they didn’t like Johny’s portrayal and thought kids would hate it. Four films and well over a billion dollars later, here we are, the 5th film in the series, ‘Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’.
From the trailer, we see that Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and Captain Sparrow have known each other for quite some time. Salazar was pirate hunter who went after a young Sparrow, and was able to rob him blind. Salazar and his crew would go down with the ship, however with the thirst for revenge so high, he vowed revenge against the pirate captain. Salazar would team up with someone who knows Jack all too well, Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). Sparrow would team up with Henry Maddox (Brenton Thwaites) and Carina Smith (Kaya Scodelario) to try to take down Salazar, and from the description, the trident of Poseidon will become very important.
The action, epic music, and swashbuckling pirates are all there, and most importantly, Captain Jack is his old, humorous, one-liner self again.
Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales releases May 26, 2017.
