Jonathan Demme to Adapt Stephen King’s Yet-to-Be-Released Novel

ALTCount Jonathan Demme among Stephen King‘s biggest fans: He has already struck a deal to write, direct and produce King’s next novel — which doesn’t even hit eReaders (and physical bookshelves) until November!

The Silence of the Lambs filmmaker will almost single-handedly adapt 11/22/63, King’s twisted tale of a time-traveling teacher who tries to prevent John F. Kennedy’s assasination on the title date.

King isn’t always on board with the movie versions of his books, but as an executive producer on 11/22/63, he’ll certainly have some involvement. The film will start shooting by fall 2012. We can only hope it doesn’t suffer the same fate that befell King’s Dark Tower adaptation(s).
