So the sequel to the 1995’s Jumanji is quite different. In fact, it’s incredibly different.
The original film had kids playing the board game Jumanji when the Jungle is transported into their home and world, including the child now adult Alan Parrish (Robin Williams). The sequel/spinoff is different. Four kids get in trouble and the repercussions are cleaning the basement a la Breakfast Club style. The kids discover an old Atari with a video game called Jumanji. The kids choose an Avatar and are instantly transported into the world of Jumanji. They change into video game characters, which helps when it happens to be Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black. The characters each have a special skill like you would think with it being a video game movie.
While the film has little to do with the classic, it looks like a fun movie. Check out ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ when it hits theaters December 20, 2017.
