‘Jurassic Park’ and 14 Other Traumatizing Bathroom Scenes

"When you've gotta go..."
"When you've gotta go..."
Jurassic Park, which is being re-released in 3D this weekend, made history for many reasons. But when we look back and reminisce on all the dino-riffic fun, all we can think about is that damn bathroom scene. True, the lawyer sort of deserved it since he left two children alone in the car, but seeing him gobbled up in that loo will go down in history as one of the worst. Bathroom scenes. Ever. What else made our list? Click on, and please do not eat while reading.

American History X is traumatizing for so many reasons, and many moments from the film are permanently embedded in our skulls — whether we want them there or not. (I'm talking to you, curb scene.) But the graphic prison rape of Derek (Ed Norton) stands out the most, for its honest depiction of an unfortunately common (but rarely discussed) event. {Photo Credit: New Line Cinema}

Austin Powers had plenty of gross-out moments, but the hilarious-slash-horrifying scene in which Tom Arnold and Mr. Powers sit stall-by-stall is a stand-out. A henchman breaks into Powers' stall and the Man of Mystery dips his head and swirls it around the toilet, leading Arnold to think that Powers was taking an epic dump. "Who does number Two work for!" he shouts, as Arnold grows increasingly freaked out. "You show that turd whose boss," he replied. {Photo Credit: New Line}

Have you ever wanted to take a bath with a ferret? No? Well, The Dude didn't either when he settled down for a stoner bath in The Big Lebowski, but that didn't stop thugs from throwing in the penis-hungry creature. {Photo Credit: Gramercy Pictures}

This Dumb and Dumber classic speaks for itself. If you like potty humor, you've probably already seen Harry's unfortunate bowel movement numerous times. Sicko. {Photo Credit: New Line Cinema}

Steve-O is a known crazy person, but even we were shocked when he was hurled through the air in a porta potty in Jackass 3D. {Photo Credit: Paramount Pictures}

You can't mention freaky bathroom scenes and leave out Psycho, the Hitchcock film that started it all. Janet Leigh thought she could finally relax after her time on the run when she entered the Bates Motel's perfectly adequate shower — only to be repeatedly, horrifically, stabbed by a madman. Ouch. {Photo Credit: Paramount Pictures}

John Travolta's Vincent Vega was a beloved character in Pulp Fiction, so we were sad to see him meet his tragic end via Bruce Willis's epic timing. Also, we learned a very valuable lesson that day: Never go to the loo without your machine pistol. {Photo Credit: Miramax}

When Richie (Luke Wilson) found out that his half-sister Margot (Gwyneth Paltrow) was a promiscuous smoker in The Royal Tenenbaums, he shaved off all of his hair and attempted suicide. The scene's graphic nature and the image of Wilson lying in a pool of blood will never go away — no matter how hard we try. {Photo Credit: Buena Vista Pictures}

In a nod to Trainspotting, Danny Boyle had his lead child character jump into an outhouse in Slumdog Millionaire for an autograph. It was horrifying, but so was the rest of the movie, so. {Photo Credit: Fox Searchlight}

It's funny when bad things happen to other people. Snakes On A Plane proved this when a couple having sex in an airplane bathroom were viciously attacked (no-no parts included) by some hungry-ass mother-f**king snakes. {Photo Credit: New Line Cinema}

Cameron Diaz has a rich, complicated history with penis jokes — but even worse than semen in the hair is getting poked in the eye via glory hole, as she did in The Sweetest Thing. (Kids, if you don't know what a glory hole is, PLEASE do not Google it.) {Photo Credit: Columbia Pictures}

People always talk about Cameron Diaz' hair when referencing There's Something About Mary's gross-out moments. But for the dudes, Ben Stiller's zipper-based pre-prom injury takes the cake. {Photo Credit: 20th Century Fox}

This scene from The Shining is so disturbing and memorable that the room from which the dead woman emerged from the bathtub — 237 — was the title of a recent documentary exploring "conspiracy theories" from the classic Kubrick film. {Photo Credit: Warner Bros Pictures}

The only thing worse than thinking about a s**t-covered toilet in a grimy bar is thinking about diving into a s**t-covered toilet in a grimy bar (and then swimming around in it). Heroin is a helluva drug, Trainspotting. {Photo Credit: Miramax}

Television Editor Shaunna Murphy was born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs of New Jersey. Largely shunned by her peers, she struck up friendships with the likes of Buffy Summers and the X-Men in their stead. After graduating from NYU where she studied political journalism, she moved to Los Angeles when she realized that writing about reality TV is a much nobler pursuit. She now lives in New York, again, with her two cats — Arya Stark and Joffrey Baratheon.
