Justice League claws its way past Paddington 2 at U.K. box office

Justice League has edged out Paddington 2 to top the U.K. box office chart.
The movie, which sees DC Comics heroes Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman, Superman, the Flash, and Cyborg team up to stave off the end of the world, earned $9.6 million (£7.3 million) in British cinemas last weekend (03-05Nov17)
It was a disappointing haul for Zack Snyder’s movie, as despite a star-studded cast including Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa and Amy Adams, Justice League only just beat the family-friendly sequel into second place.
Paddington 2 has earned rave reviews, and the bear from Peru seems to be popular with audiences too, as it made $8.8 million (£6.6 million) in its second weekend in cinemas.
In at third place is Kenneth Branagh’s murder mystery caper Murder on the Orient Express with $3 million (£2.27 million), while at four is Thor: Ragnarok with $1.55 million (£1.18 million).
Rounding out the box office top five is festive comedy A Bad Moms Christmas. It earned $1 million (£762,400).
