It should come of no surprise that kids can be mean, and what’s worse it’s hard for the kids that are different and are picked on to talk about those feelings.
‘UglyDolls’ tries to change that.
The UglyDolls are dolls that one might look at and say those aren’t perfect who would want them? But in the film, they know they are still worthy of love and will try at all costs to get chosen to be taken to the outside world.
In the above interview Director Kelly Asbury explains why this film has so much music (with parts of a song from stars Bebe Rexha, Emma Roberts, Blake Shelton, and Gabriel Iglesias), Janelle Monáe loves to be a part of a film for the outcasts because that’s how she felt like a kid, Nick Jonas explains how different singing in this is rather than with his brothers as well as his characters song, and Kelly Clarkson talks about her surprise that she’s cast in this film as the lead as well as what she wants kids to take from watching the film.
The ‘UglyDolls’ movie releases on May 10, 2019.
