Knightley Takes Sci-Fi Detour

In a move away from period pieces, Keira Knightley will star in sci-fi thriller Never Let Me Go for Fox Searchlight. 

Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) will direct the cloning-themed film, says Variety.

Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich are producing through their DNA Films. Alex Garland, who wrote the screenplay, is producing as well. Film 4 is also involved as a producer. Andrew Garfield (The Other Boleyn Girl) and Carey Mulligan (When Did You Last See Your Father) also star.

The story follows a trio who grew up in a boarding school, isolated from the outside world until they discover they are clones grown for the sole purpose of organ donation.

Film is set to shoot in April in London and Norfolk, England.

Knightley is also attached to star in John Curran‘s The Beautiful and the DamnedWilliam Monahan‘s directorial debut London Boulevard and the Columbia Pictures remake of My Fair Lady.
