Synopsis

A biographical portrait of celebrated Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski most noted for the following critically acclaimed, award-winning works: his 10-hour long series based on the ten commandments, "Decalogue" (Poland/1988); "The Double Life of Veronique" (Poland/France/1991); and his final series of works which comprise the trilogy based the Tricolore (liberty, equality and fraternity): "Blue" (France/Poland/Switzerland/1993), "Red" (France/Poland/Switzerland/1994), and "White" (France/Poland/Switzerland/1994). The portrait of the filmmaker shows him to be philosophical, pessimistic, and given to bouts of mysticim. He describes life under cynicism as "bleak, not black and white or grey, just black."
