La Moitie gauche du frigo | 1999
Thirty-year-old Christophe, an unemployed engineer, shares an apartment with his best friend Stephane, a social activist involved in the theatre. Their friendship is put to the test when they agree to collaborate on a film documenting Christophe's job-searching activities. With digital-video camera in hand, Stephane records job interviews, social-assistance workshops and career-counselling sessions. While Christophe encounters one setback after another, the documentary becomes a full-time job for Stephane who finds a producer and hires a film crew. As the film project grows, it begins to infringe more and more on the job search. The crew becomes increasingly aggressive as Stephane questions prospective employers about corporate greed, downsizing and the global economy.
