Let’s Play Name the Gerard Butler Movie (That Isn’t ‘300’)

Gerard Butler‘s latest romantic comedy Playing For Keeps opens in theaters this weekend and if you endured the trailer, you quickly realized two things: 1. He’s definitely getting back with Jessica Biel by the end of this thing and 2. I’ve seen this Gerard Butler movie before, haven’t I?

Well, let’s see, in Playing For Keeps, the 43-year-old actor plays an athletic (Chasing Mavericks), sometimes charming but more often boorish, indistinguishable foreigner who inexplicably has a way with the ladies (The Phantom of the Opera) in a movie universally panned by critics. Sound familiar? See if you can distinguish which Gerard Butler movie is which and if you can…we’re so sorry.

A. Butler plays an athletic, charming, but more often boorish indistinguishable American who inexplicably has a way with the ladies in a movie universally panned by critics. Special hint: it costars someone who also somehow repeatedly winds up in predictable, borderline offensive romantic comedies.  B. Butler plays an athletic, charming, but more often boorish foreigner who inexplicably has a way with the ladies in a movie universally panned by critics. Special hint: Liz Lemon did not like this movie. C. Butler plays an athletic, in no way charming, boorish indistinguishable American who inexplicably has a way with the ladies in a movie universally panned by critics. Special hint: this is actually the worst movie ever made in the history of everything.  D. All of the above. (Give or take the accent thing.) Scroll to see the answers…. Answer key: A.
