Why Are Lumiere And Cogsworth From Disney’s Live-Action ‘Beauty And The Beast’ So Creepy?

It’s never easy transforming an everyday object into a living, breathing thing without it being a little weird. Disney’s live-action Beauty And The Beast is no exception. All those anthropomorphic dinner plates and such can’t be nixed just because the film is starring real, non-animated people.

Though we never really spent much time thinking about what Lumiere and Cogsworth would like if Beauty And The Beast actually happened, somehow, the duo look exactly like we’d expect. That still doesn’t make them any less creepy.

Erik Davis, the managing editor of Fandango, tweeted a first look at Lumiere and Cogsworth. We need a minute to take this all in.

Why does this creep us out so much? We don’t know how to feel. These really look like they could be out of a horror movie where your home comes alive and tries to murder you in your sleep, but no one believes you because furniture does not try to kill people. What do they even look like in motion?

The Beast, on the other hand, is going to be charming as heck! Let us get a piece of that flowing, long hair, thanks!

Beauty And The Beast has an all star cast. Lumiere, the candelabra, will be voiced by Ewan McGregor and Ian McKellen is taking on the role of the clock, Cogsworth. They star along side Emma Watson, who plays Belle, and Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast.

Beauty And The Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.
