Synopsis

Before the arrival of Europeans in America, the Innu Indians live in the South, hunting on the banks of the St-Laurent River, and the Inuit people have settled in the North. Maïna, an Innu girl, promises her dying best friend that she will take care of her son Nipki. But during a violent attack by the Inuit people, Nipki is kidnapped. Maïna goes after them and is captured and taken to the Inuit territory. As time goes by, she becomes attached to her captor Natak and eventually falls in love with him. However, while she struggles to integrate into the community and adapt to their local customs, the other Inuit people are reluctant to accept her as one of their own.
