Marvel Comics is huge on the idea of ragtag superhero teams. The Avengers is their big seller. Fantastic Four is getting a reboot. X-Men is a cinematic mainstay. And now, the big screen is giving life to a lesser known Marvel troupe: Guardians of the Galaxy.

After a slew of rumors on the subject, Marvel has officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con that a Guardians film is underway. The extraterrestrial super squad has involved a variety of members since its 1969 inception, but the big screen adaptation will feature Star Lord, Drax the Destoryer, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Racoon.
