When it was announced that there would be a sequel to Mary Poppins film fans were outraged.
How could they? The original is a classic, to say the least, who could replace Julie Andrews? Then it came out that it would be Emily Blunt as Mary and we saw that could work. Then the first trailer came out, which was more of a teaser than anything else, but while being new it felt somewhat familiar. Emily only had one line of “yes it is, isn’t it”, which is quite impossible to judge anything based on that.
Then this trailer came out, and it has everything.
Memories, Mary demanding properness from Michael, 2d animation that flies off the screen, singing, dancing, and that little bit of magic that Mary had. On top of the hard financial times that have fallen on the Banks family, we find out that Michael’s wife has passed and of course, his children could use some cheering up. If that’s not enough, cameos from Julie Walters and Dick Van Dyke. If that doesn’t put some chills on you and some happiness in your life, I don’t know what will.
‘Mary Poppins Returns’ releases Christmas 2018, December 25, 2018.
