LOS ANGELES, June 15, 2000 — Shutterbugs were deprived of their most-desired photo opportunity Thursday night when “Me, Myself & Irene” star Renée Zellweger failed to materialize next to her co-star and boyfriend in real life, Jim Carrey.
But fear not — Carrey made up for the absence by working the crowd as usual. The comedy, directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, has Carrey’s traumatized lawman splitting into two personalities, both of whom fall in love with Zellweger. Zellweger is in London preparing for her starring role in “Bridget Jones’s Diary”; the couple only recently admitted to their offscreen romance.
Also attending the premiere were co-stars Robert Forster, Traylor Howard and Anthony Anderson; Aaliyah, Lou Diamond Phillips, Carly Pope, Matthew Perry, Joanna Kerns, Jennie Garth, Peter Facinelli, Will Ferrell and Kim Delaney also turned out.
“Me, Myself & Irene” opens June 23.
